Disney Cancels Florida Job Move Amid Escalating Battle

Date:

Disney has decided to cancel its plans to move 2,000 jobs to Florida due to changing business conditions and leadership changes, according to an email seen by Reuters. The decision comes amidst a legal battle between Disney and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The company had planned to spend up to $864m on relocating employees, including Imagineers who design theme park rides, to a new campus in Lake Nona. The move had been met with complaints from employees who did not want to relocate across the country. Disney CEO Bob Iger has noted that the company employs over 75,000 people in Florida and plans to invest $17bn in expanding the resort over the next decade.
