King Fahd Airport: 250k Passengers in 7 Days

RIYADH: King Fahd International Airport witnessed an 11 percent rise in passenger numbers throughout the seven days of the Eid Al-Adha celebration compared to the equivalent period in 2022. Dammam Airports Co., which operates the transport hub, revealed 250,000 people passed through the facility from June 19 to June 2. The airport also witnessed over 2,000 flights during this time, reflecting a 15 percent increase compared to the previous year.

GACA suggests economic rules to enhance aviation efficiency

  RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector’s efficiency and competitiveness are set to receive a boost thanks to the new economic regulations that are likely to be introduced. The General Authority of Civil Aviation has put forward the draft economic regulations for airports on a survey platform between June 22 and July 20, according to a statement. The regulations aim to support the rapid growth of the sector, enhance passenger experience and ensure transparency and fairness.

Riyadh Air CEO announces direct flights from Saudi capital to major European cities

PARIS: In line with its goal to serve over 100 destinations by 2030, Riyadh Air will connect the Kingdom’s capital to major cities of Europe, its CEO said.   Speaking to Arab News on the sidelines of the Paris Air Show, Tony Douglas said the company intends to reveal something new every two months as the airline gears up for its 2025 launch. While Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and the highest populated country within the Arabian Peninsula, it is not globally well-connected as it needs to be.

Islamic Banks in UAE See $177bn Asset Growth in Q1

RIYADH: Reflecting the growing popularity of Islamic financing, gross assets of the Shariah-compliant banks operating in the UAE grew to 650 billion dirhams ($177 billion) by the end of the first quarter of 2023, a year-over-year increase of 7.31 percent compared to 605.7 billion dirhams in the same period last year, according to figures by the Central Bank of the UAE.

“42% Increase in Passengers at Saudi Airports in First 4 Months of 2023”

RIYADH: Fueled by significant growth in the Saudi travel and tourism sector, air traffic witnessed a strong rebound during the first four months of 2023, recording a 42 percent increase in the number of passengers compared to the same period last year. According to the latest report issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the number of passengers jumped to 35.8 million in the first four months of 2023, up from 25.3 million during the same period last year.
