Saudi Arabia’s Cybersecurity Gets Boost from New Cisco Data Center

RIYADH: Digital security in Saudi Arabia is set to be strengthened after global technology firm Cisco announced a new data center for the Kingdom to better protect users, infrastructure and investments. The facility will support the company’s cloud security services in Saudi Arabia, including its new Secure Service Edge solution, Cisco Secure Access. This product automates decisions about how users connect to the internet, Software as a Service products and private applications, a move which the firm claims helps increase productivity.

Iraq to play Iran in WAFF U-23 Championship final

BAGHDAD: Hosts Iraq will face Iran in the final of the WAFF U-23 Championship after the two nations triumphed in the semifinals against Jordan and Oman respectively on Sunday. The final of the West Asian Football Federation tournament will take place on Tuesday night. In the first semifinal Iran and Jordan played out a 0-0 draw before the former won 4-3 on penalties in Baghdad.

Saudi Ports Authority signs deal for Yanbu port integrated bunker station construction

RIYADH: The Saudi Ports Authority, also known as Mawani, has signed a deal to establish an integrated center worth over SR2 billion ($533 million) as part of a pilot project to supply ships with fuel at the Yanbu Industrial Port. The total holding capacity of the pioneering project is likely to reach 2.5 million metric tons. The authority signed the agreement with International and Trafalgar Co. Ltd. on Sunday in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy.

FAO predicts global food import bill to reach $1.98tn by 2023

RIYADH: The global food import bill is forecast to reach a record high of $1.98 trillion in 2023, up 1.5 percent from 2022, due to a combination of factors including an increase in international prices and higher volumes, the latest UN report showed.    The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN in its biannual report stated that the anticipated increase in the 2023 bills will happen due to an additional $18.4 billion stemming from higher international prices and $12.9 billion from higher volumes. 

Saudi Sports Minister Attends Special Olympics World Games Opening in Berlin

RIYADH: Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi minister of sports and president of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, attended the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin on Saturday — on behalf of KIng Salman — at the city’s Olympic Stadium. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier officially inaugurated the event, which began with a procession of the participating countries, including Saudi Arabia, followed by a speech delivered by Dr. Timothy Shriver, chairman of the Special Olympics International Board of Directors.

Speaking after the conclusion of the Saudi-Latvian Business Forum in Riyadh earlier this month, Indriksone emphasized the need to expand economic cooperation, boost bilateral trade, and increase investment in research, development and technology.
