The conflict in Syria has been ongoing for more than a decade, with various factions fighting for control of the country. Pro-Iranian groups have been supporting President Bashar Assad’s forces in the conflict, leading to frequent clashes with other groups in the region. Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes targeting these pro-Iranian groups, while the United States has also conducted strikes against them in response to attacks on US interests in Iraq and Syria.

The recent air strikes in eastern Syria have once again raised tensions in the region. While the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the strikes were carried out by an unknown party, media close to the Syrian government suggested that they were American strikes. The strikes resulted in the deaths of several pro-Iranian fighters, as well as Syrian civilians who lived nearby.

The conflict in Syria has also spilled over into neighboring countries, with recent strikes targeting pro-Iran groups in eastern Syria. In early February, US strikes in Deir Ezzor and Al-Madayeen killed 29 pro-Iran fighters in response to a deadly drone attack on a US base. Since then, pro-Iran groups have reportedly reduced their attacks on US targets in Syria.
