Newcastle won’t make big summer spending: Eddie Howe

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has revealed that the club will not be making any big transfer spends this summer due to the impact of Premier League Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. Despite expectations that the Saudi-led Magpies would spend big in the transfer market, Howe explained that the club is working with tighter guidelines than their top-end rivals. Without Champions League football, Newcastle’s spending in the next window would have been even less. Howe acknowledged that strengthening the team will be necessary if they are to compete on four fronts next season. The club will also look to trading and producing products from within their own academy to help them along the way.
