Max Planck Society should stop supporting Israel unconditionally | TOME

Date:

Dear MPS Board Members,

We, the undersigned employees of the MPS, are writing to express our deep concern over the recent decision to maintain ties with Israel despite its genocidal actions against the Palestinian people. As educators and advocates for social justice, we believe it is our moral obligation to speak out against such atrocities and to stand in solidarity with the oppressed.

The ongoing violence in Israel and Palestine has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians, including women and children. The Israeli government’s use of excessive force, collective punishment, and illegal settlements have been widely condemned by the international community. Yet, the MPS continues to maintain partnerships with Israeli institutions, thereby legitimizing and supporting these egregious violations of human rights.

We understand that the MPS values diversity and inclusivity, and we appreciate the efforts that have been made to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students. However, we believe that maintaining ties with Israel sends a contradictory message and undermines the values of justice and equality that we strive to instill in our students.

By continuing to support Israel, the MPS is complicit in the oppression of the Palestinian people and is turning a blind eye to their suffering. As educators, we have a responsibility to teach our students about empathy, compassion, and standing up for what is right. We cannot in good conscience support a government that engages in systematic discrimination, violence, and human rights abuses.

We urge the MPS to reconsider its stance on Israel and to take a stand against the injustices being committed in our name. We call on the board members to listen to the voices of those who are directly impacted by these policies and to take meaningful action to hold Israel accountable for its actions.

As employees of the MPS, we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students, regardless of their background or beliefs. We believe that by standing up for justice and human rights, we can help create a better world for future generations.

In conclusion, we urge the MPS to live up to its values of diversity, inclusivity, and social justice by ending its partnerships with Israeli institutions. It is time for the MPS to take a stand against oppression and violence and to show solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom and equality.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned Employees of the MPS

In conclusion, it is clear that the employees of the MPS are deeply concerned about the continued support for Israel despite its genocidal actions against the Palestinian people. By speaking out against these atrocities and calling on the MPS to reconsider its stance, they are demonstrating their commitment to social justice and human rights. It is now up to the board members of the MPS to listen to their employees and take meaningful action to end their partnerships with Israeli institutions. Only by standing up for what is right can we create a more just and inclusive world for all.
