Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has long warned of Iran’s threat to Israel’s existence, vowed that Israel would emerge victorious in any conflict. The prospect of a full-scale war erupting between Iran and Israel, potentially drawing the United States into the fray, has put the entire region on edge.
Despite Israel’s powerful and technologically advanced military capabilities, many Israelis expressed a desire to avoid further escalation. Jeremy Smith, a resident of Tzur Hadassah, emphasized that no one in Israel wants a large-scale war and expressed hope that Iran would cease its aggressive actions.
Prior to the Iranian attack, Israeli authorities had already taken precautions by advising against large gatherings, closing schools and children’s camps during the Jewish holiday of Passover, and shutting down certain public spaces. The ongoing conflict with Hamas in Gaza has further added to the tensions in the region, with some Israelis feeling that they are constantly under threat.
