France’s National Team Recalls Nkunku and Dembélé for Upcoming Qualifiers

France’s national team coach, Didier Deschamps, has recalled Christopher Nkunku and Ousmane Dembélé for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Gibraltar and Greece. The two strikers missed Les Bleus’ previous games due to injury but have now been included in the squad. France is currently at the top of Group B standings in qualifying after winning against the Netherlands and Ireland. The team will face Gibraltar in Portugal on June 16 and host Greece three days later at the Stade de France.

Nkunku, who plays for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, has been out of action for months due to a knee injury, while Barcelona’s Dembele missed several games due to a hamstring problem. Unfortunately, Deschamps will be without the injured Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kanté, with William Saliba also missing due to a back injury.

The France squad includes Alphonse Areola (West Ham), Mike Maignan (AC Milan), Brice Samba (Lens) as goalkeepers. Defenders include Axel Disasi (Monaco), Wesley Fofana (Chelsea), Theo Hernandez (AC Milan), Ibrahima Konaté (Liverpool), Jules Koundé (Barcelona), Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid), Benjamin Pavard (Bayern Munich), and Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich). Midfielders include Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid), Youssouf Fofana (Monaco), Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid), Adrien Rabiot (Juventus), and Aurélien Tchouaméni (Real Madrid). Forwards include Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich), Ousmane Dembélé (Barcelona), Olivier Giroud (AC Milan), Randal Kolo Muani (Eintracht Frankfurt), Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain), Christopher Nkunku (RB Leipzig), and Marcus Thuram (Borussia Mönchengladbach).
