Funding Granted to Seven Jordanian Community Entrepreneurial Projects

AMMAN: Seven community entrepreneurial projects in Jordan have been awarded funding by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, Jordan News Agency reported on Monday.  The KAFD Community Entrepreneurship Challenge project aims to encourage Jordanian youth to contribute to the country’s development and promote a culture of taking the initiative.  This year’s edition also aims to increase participation by expanding the age limit for individuals and groups from 22-35 to now include those up to 40 years old.

“Fatal Bus Accident in Central Turkey Claims 12 Lives”

ANKARA: A passenger bus veered off the road and crashed into a roadside ditch in central Turkiye on Monday, killing 12 people and injuring 19 others, officials said. The driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle, which crossed into the oncoming lane and then plunged into the ditch near the central Turkish city of Yozgat, Gov. Mehmet Ali Ozkan said. The bus was traveling from Sivas — some 240 kilometers (150 miles) east of Yozgat — to Istanbul. Ozkan said 11 of the passengers died at the scene of the crash while one died later in the hospital.

Appeal for Funds to Aid Sudanese Trapped in War between Generals

CAIRO: A global aid official urged the international community Sunday to provide more funds to help Sudanese citizens trapped by a monthslong military conflict between rival generals in the African nation. Jagan Chapagain, the secretary-general of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, said his organizations have received only 7 percent of the $45 million they appealed for to help those inside Sudan. The war pits the military against the powerful paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
