MACON: Team Abu Dhabi’s Thani Al-Qemzi produced a battling performance to claim a 44th career podium finish today as Jonas Andersson won the Grand Prix of France to extend his lead in the F1H2O World Championship. Andersson, the 2021 world champion, recorded a comfortable victory from Sharjah Team’s Ferdinand Zandbergen and Al-Qemzi in a race littered with dramatic moments on the Saone River in Macon.

SAFF introduces innovative funding program for women’s football empowerment.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) on Monday announced a funding initiative and support system for women’s football clubs.   This initiative is designed to “further enhance the rapidly growing women’s football leagues and the wider sport in Saudi Arabia, ensuring its sustainability and development for years to come,” a press release read.    SAFF’s funding program will provide vital financial assistance to the Saudi Premier League and Women's First Division clubs.

Yin Ruoning of China Wins Women’s PGA Championship

NEW YORK: China’s Yin Ruoning sank a 10-foot birdie putt on the final hole on Sunday to win the Women’s PGA Championship for her first major title. The 20-year-old from Shanghai fired a 4-under 67 to finish 72 holes at Baltusrol on 8-under 276 and defeat Japan’s Yuka Saso by one stroke. Yin took the $1.5 million top prize and became only the second woman from China to win a major title after Feng Shanshan, who captured the 2012 Women’s PGA crown.

Biggest Weekly Gold Drop Since Feb Expected Due to Hawkish Fed

RIYADH: Gold prices were en route to their worst week since early February on Friday as the dollar strengthened after US Federal Reserve Chief Jerome Powell reiterated that more interest rate hikes were in the offing, according to Reuters. Spot gold was up 0.4 percent to $1,921.29 per ounce by 1543 p.m. Saudi time, yet stayed close to a three-month low hit earlier in the session. Prices are down 1.8 percent for the week. US gold futures gained 0.4 percent to $1,931.40.
