China announces $72 billion tax incentive for electric vehicles

RIYADH: China unveiled on Wednesday a 520 billion yuan ($72.3 billion) package of tax breaks over four years for electric vehicles and other green cars, as it seeks to boost auto sales. Weakening sales growth in the world’s biggest auto market has raised concern over China’s economic growth and while financial support was widely expected after an earlier government pledge to promote the industry, shares in major automakers jumped after the details were released.

Saudi benchmark index closes at 11,420 with 95-point drop

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index slipped on Monday, as it shed 95.19 points, or 0.83 percent, to close at 11,421.70.   The upward movement of the Kingdom’s parallel equity market, Nomu, also came to an end after four days as it dipped 2.81 percent or 813.22 points, to close at 28,174.84.   The MSCI Tadawul Index also dropped 0.71 percent to close at 1,508.36.  The total trading turnover of the benchmark index was SR6.07 billion ($1.62 billion), as 32 stocks advanced, while 188 retracted.

Saudi Main Index Steady, Nomu Up 1,990 Points at Closing Bell

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index remained steady in the first session of the week, gaining 0.75 points or 0.01 percent to close at 11,516.89.  The trading turnover of the benchmark index was SR5.35 billion ($1.43 billion), as 120 stocks advanced, while 95 retracted.  Parallel market Nomu continued its upward movement for the fourth consecutive session, leaping 1,990.46 points to close at 28,988.06.  The MSCI Tadawul Index also picked up 0.03 percent to 1,519.18.

Saudi Stock Market Closes Week with Green Finish

After rising for four consecutive days, Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index ended the week in green, as it gained 24.31 points, or 0.21 percent, to close at 11,397.14. The total trading turnover of the benchmark index hit SR7.14 billion ($1.90 billion), as 113 stocks advanced, while 94 retracted.  While parallel market Nomu gained 368.10 points to close at 21,849.68, MSCI Tadawul Index increased 0.16 percent to end the day at 1,509.41.

Newcastle United extends noon.com partnership for 2023-24 season

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund-owned football club Newcastle United has extended its sleeve sponsorship agreement with the e-commerce platform Noon. According to a press release, the logo of Saudi-based Noon will continue to be displayed on the sleeve of Newcastle’s first-team kit across all competitions.  Newcastle United has been owned by a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund since 2021, with PIF holding 80 percent of the club’s shares, while RB Sports & Media and PCP Capital Partners hold a 10 percent stake each.

Saudi Arabia partners with Brazilian firm to enhance food security

RIYADH: The Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund-owned Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Co. and South American firm Marfrig Global Foods SA have committed to buying shares in a potential new offering worth $900 million by BRF SA, Brazil’s biggest poultry producer.  BRF said in a bourse filing that SALIC offered to subscribe to 50 percent of the total offer or 500 million new shares.  Marfrig Global Foods SA, which owns 33 percent of BRF, pledged to buy the remaining 250 million shares, reported Reuters.
