“Boulter Claims First WTA Title in Battle of the Brits Win”

NOTTINGHAM: Katie Boulter won her first WTA Tour title on Sunday, beating Jodie Burrage 6-3 6-3 in the Nottingham Open in the first all-British final at this level for 46 years. Boulter cemented her position as British No. 1 and will move to a career high inside the world’s top 80. “I’m definitely going to be sleeping with this trophy tonight,” said Boulter, who grew up in nearby Leicester.

Saudi Property Market Performs Well in Q1 Due to Limited Supply: CBRE

RIYADH: Demand for offices remained strong in Saudi Arabia in the first quarter of 2023 as global and local businesses continued to scout for quality spaces in the key cities despite limited supply in the market, the latest report from global consultancy firm CBRE showed.   Most of the offices in Riyadh witnessed nearly 100 percent occupancy, resulting in Grade A and Grade B properties recording a year-on-year rise in average rental rates of 9.3 percent and 14 percent, respectively, in the first quarter.  

Crude Oil Prices Drop 1% Prior to US Fed Rate Decision

RIYADH: Oil prices declined on Monday ahead of a US Federal Reserve meeting as investors tried to gauge the central bank’s appetite for further rate hikes, while concerns about China’s fuel demand growth and rising Russian crude supply weighed on the market.  Brent crude futures fell 89 cents, or 1.19 percent, to $73.90 a barrel by 9:23 a.m. Saudi time. US West Texas Intermediate crude was at $69.33 a barrel, also down 1.20 percent. 

“Chinese Delegates View Riyadh Conference as Chance to Strengthen Ties”

RIYADH: Business professionals from China are optimistic that events like the Arab-China Business Conference will help strengthen economic ties between the world’s second-largest economy and the region. They urged Chinese companies to explore opportunities in the Arab world particularly Saudi Arabia, as the Kingdom is rapidly transforming into an economic powerhouse. Lin Shunjie, chairman of China International Exhibition Center Group, told Arab News that his visit to the Kingdom had opened doors of new business opportunities between his country and the Arab world.

Saudi Stock Market Closes Week with Green Finish

After rising for four consecutive days, Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index ended the week in green, as it gained 24.31 points, or 0.21 percent, to close at 11,397.14. The total trading turnover of the benchmark index hit SR7.14 billion ($1.90 billion), as 113 stocks advanced, while 94 retracted.  While parallel market Nomu gained 368.10 points to close at 21,849.68, MSCI Tadawul Index increased 0.16 percent to end the day at 1,509.41.

Oil Prices Head for Second Weekly Loss on Demand Concerns

SINGAPORE: Oil prices looked set to post their second straight weekly loss as they continued to fall on Friday over demand concerns and skepticism that the US and Iran could strike a nuclear deal, according to Reuters. Brent crude futures dropped 35 cents, or 0.5 percent, to $75.61 a barrel by 7:04 a.m. Saudi time, while the US West Texas Intermediate crude futures eased 35 cents, or 0.5 percent, to $70.94.

Saudi Banks Remain Profitable in Q1 Despite Global Challenges: Alvarez & Marsal

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s top banks have continued to register steady earnings growth while maintaining profitability despite global headwinds amid rising interest rates, according to global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal. The analysis by the New York-headquartered company revealed the Kingdom’s leading 10 banks collectively recorded 2.7 percent quarter-on-quarter growth in net profits during the first three months of the year to hit SR17.3 billion ($4.61 billion).
