“Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand: Ticket Sales Exceed 1 Million”

SYDNEY: More than 1 million tickets have been sold for the Women’s World Cup kicking off in Australia and New Zealand next month, with soccer’s international governing body saying the tournament is on track to be the most attended standalone women’s sporting event in history. FIFA President Gianni Infantino issued a statement saying 1,032,884 tickets had been sold up to Friday morning local time in Sydney, surpassing the pre-tournament sales for the 2019 edition in France.

RIYADH: Talent scouts from Saudi and European football federations and clubs are among those watching the Kingdom’s Elite Championship for the Schools Football League for Boys as its fourth edition is held in the King Abdullah Sports City stadiums in Jeddah. A total of 32 school teams are competing in the championships as part the national sports project implemented by the Ministry of Sports in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, to develop school sports and strengthen competition among students.

Saudi Construction Industry Contributes 6% to GDP, Confirms Official

RIYADH: The construction sector, valued at over SR255 billion ($68 billion) accounts for 6 percent of the gross domestic product of the Kingdom, according to the chairman of Saudi Contractors Authority. Speaking at the Builders of Egypt Forum in Cairo on Sunday, Zakria Al-Abdulqadir said the construction sector is the second-largest non-oil sector in Saudi Arabia. The official said the authority organized the sixth edition of the Future Projects Forum last week, which showcased 3,000 projects worth around $270 billion.

Gamers Without Borders raises $10 million for charity

RIYADH: Gamers Without Borders, the world’s largest charitable esports event, has concluded this year’s edition by raising a total of $10 million for its humanitarian aid partners. The money will go to Direct Relief, International Medical Corps, UNICEF, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the UN’s World Food Programme and the UNHCR. The donations were made by teams, players and gamers worldwide. The funds will be used for urgent humanitarian projects and add to the work achieved through the $30 million in donations from the GWB’s three previous editions.

Arab Futsal Cup 7th Edition Groups Drawn in Jeddah

JEDDAH: The draw for the seventh edition of the Arab Futsal Cup was held on Tuesday in Jeddah ahead of the tournament taking place in the Kingdom from June 6-16. Alongside hosts Saudi Arabia, the first group will pit Algeria, Libya and Sudan against each other. In the second group, Morocco, Comoros, Kuwait and Lebanon will face off, while Egypt, Mauritania, Palestine and Iraq make up the third group.
