Thales strengthens Saudi Arabia presence with focus on defense and civil aviation

PARIS: Multinational defense company Thales is committed to strengthening its presence in Saudi Arabia and expanding its operations to align with the country’s Vision 2030 initiative, one of the firm’s leading figures has told Arab News. Speaking on the sidelines of the Paris Air Show, Pascale Sourisse, president of Thales International, said the organization not only wants to bolster the Kingdom’s defense sector, it is also branching out into other areas such as security, civil aviation and higher education.

King Fahd Airport: 250k Passengers in 7 Days

RIYADH: King Fahd International Airport witnessed an 11 percent rise in passenger numbers throughout the seven days of the Eid Al-Adha celebration compared to the equivalent period in 2022. Dammam Airports Co., which operates the transport hub, revealed 250,000 people passed through the facility from June 19 to June 2. The airport also witnessed over 2,000 flights during this time, reflecting a 15 percent increase compared to the previous year.

  RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector’s efficiency and competitiveness are set to receive a boost thanks to the new economic regulations that are likely to be introduced. The General Authority of Civil Aviation has put forward the draft economic regulations for airports on a survey platform between June 22 and July 20, according to a statement. Riyadh Air orders 90 GEnx engines for Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet

PARIS: Riyadh Air has finalized a deal for 90 GEnx-1B engines to propel its upcoming fleet, it was announced on Wednesday. The agreement also includes spare engines and a TrueChoice services package. The deal follows the Saudi airline’s recent wide-body order for 39 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The signing ceremony took place at the Riyadh Air chalet during the Paris Air Show, where the airline introduced its new livery to the world.
