Liverpool signs Szoboszlai from Leipzig in midfield overhaul by Klopp

MANCHESTER: Liverpool continued its midfield overhaul with the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from Leipzig on Sunday. The Hungary international cost £60 million ($76 million) after Liverpool triggered his release clause. He has agreed a five-year contract subject to him being granted a work permit to play in the UK “For me it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good,” Szoboszlai said.

“Bharat Petroleum of India to Raise $2.19bn for Green Energy Expansion”

RIYADH: State-owned oil marketing company Bharat Petroleum said on Wednesday it approved raising up to 180 billion rupees ($2.19 billion) through an issue of equity shares on a rights basis, underscoring India’s push to achieve net-zero emissions goals. The details of the issue, including the price, right entitlement and timing, will be intimated separately after the board approval, it said in an exchange filing. Last week, the company said the funds would be used to achieve “energy transition, net zero and energy security objectives.”

RIYADH: Tourists traveling to The Red Sea Project can expect better mobility and accessibility options as Saudi authorities are developing the Kingdom’s first geographical navigation map that charts the scope of marine tourism in the coastal area.   The Saudi Red Sea Authority and the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information have partnered with 19 government agencies to develop the first-ever coastal tourism map of the Red Sea.

NEW YORK: Basketball legend Michael Jordan has agreed to sell his majority stake in the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets to an investment consortium, the team announced Friday. The buyer group is led by Gabe Plotkin, chief investment officer at Tallwoods Capital LLC and Rick Schnall, co-president of private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. The group also includes musicians J. Cole and Eric Church, said a press release from Hornets Sports & Entertainment that did not disclose financial terms.

UBS and Swiss Govt. Guarantee Credit Suisse Losses

ZURICH: UBS and the Swiss government signed on Friday an agreement to cover up to 9 billion Swiss francs ($10 billion) in losses from its emergency takeover of Credit Suisse, the country’s largest bank, Reuters reported. The deal comes with various conditions, including a requirement that UBS keeps its headquarters in Switzerland, the government said in a statement. The loss protection agreement will become effective with the completion of the Credit Suisse takeover, expected as early as June 12, UBS said in a separate statement.

Saudi Central Bank Certifies Tarabut Gateway for Open Banking

CAIRO: As part of its efforts to become a global fintech hub, Saudi Arabia has granted open banking certification to Dubai-based Tarabut Gateway.  Following the approval from the Saudi Central Bank, also known as SAMA, the fintech company aims to intensify its operations in the Kingdom.  Tarabut Gateway, the region’s leading regulated open banking platform, has become one of the early recipients of SAMA’s permit to carry out its operations in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi-Bahraini Investment Co. receives $5bn approval from Public Investment Fund: Al-Falih

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund has approved the establishment of the Saudi-Bahraini Investments Co. with a capital of around SR18 billion ($5 billion), according to the Saudi investment minister.  On the sidelines of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Committee meeting held in Manama, Khalid Al-Falih said that the location of the company’s headquarters would be announced soon.  Al-Falih also stated that the group addressed around 13 ideas, some of which have been finalized while others are still in progress.
