Iraq’s June oil revenues exceed $7 billion

RIYADH: The Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced on Saturday that oil export revenues during June exceeded $7 billion.    According to the State Organization for Marketing of Oil, the total exports of crude during June were nearly 100.06 million barrels, with revenues amounting to $7.11 billion.    SOMO data revealed that the total quantities of crude exported during June from oil fields in central and southern Iraq were 98.72 million barrels.     Oil exports from the Al-Qayyarah oil field in Nineveh governorate in northern Iraq were 1.03 million barrels.

 LONDON: Like other sports, women’s tennis is looking into the possibility of getting into business with Saudi Arabia. And while holding a tournament there is not imminent, WTA Chairman and CEO Steve Simon said Friday that he visited that country with some players in February as part of the evaluation process. “It’s a very difficult and very challenging topic that’s being, obviously, measured by many, many different groups right now,” Simon said at an event in London to mark the 50th anniversary of the meeting that led to the founding of the WTA.

“Bharat Petroleum of India to Raise $2.19bn for Green Energy Expansion”

RIYADH: State-owned oil marketing company Bharat Petroleum said on Wednesday it approved raising up to 180 billion rupees ($2.19 billion) through an issue of equity shares on a rights basis, underscoring India’s push to achieve net-zero emissions goals. The details of the issue, including the price, right entitlement and timing, will be intimated separately after the board approval, it said in an exchange filing. Last week, the company said the funds would be used to achieve “energy transition, net zero and energy security objectives.”

Turkey to increase central bank’s foreign reserves to counter lira depreciation

RIYADH: Turkiye is intensifying efforts to boost foreign reserves in its central bank, the country’s finance minister has revealed. Writing on Twitter, Mehmet Simsek said the bank’s net international reserves rose to a record $8.5 billion last week. “The return to rational policies will continue gradually,” the minister wrote, adding: “We are accelerating our efforts to obtain additional foreign resources to our country in order to further strengthen the reserves.”

Man United seals $69M deal for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount

MANCHESTER, England: Manchester United have agreed to sign midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea for £55 million ($69 million). The agreement was confirmed Thursday by two people with knowledge of the negotiations, which have been on-going since the end of the Premier League season. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been publicly announced. Mount will sign a five-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months.

Crude Oil Prices Rise on US Stock Draws, Amid Lingering Rate Hike Concerns

RIYADH: Oil prices edged higher on Wednesday after industry data showed a larger-than-expected drawdown of US inventories, signaling robust demand from the world’s biggest oil consumer, but the gains were limited by worries over interest rate hikes.   Brent crude futures rose 43 cents, or 0.60 percent, to $72.69 a barrel at 09:28 a.m. Saudi time, while US West Texas Intermediate futures gained 40 cents, or 0.59 percent, to $68.10 a barrel.  

Biles set to make competitive comeback in August

LOS ANGELES: Gymnastics superstar Simone Biles is poised to compete in August for the first time since mental health and safety concerns cut short her Tokyo Olympics campaign, entering the August US Classic near Chicago. USA Gymnastics announced Wednesday that the four-time Olympic gold medalist was entered in the August 4-5 event, which would be her first since she withdrew from most of her events in Tokyo in 2021. “Registration...does not guarantee participation,” USA Gymnastics warned in the statement.
