A Center for Prosthetic Limbs Opens in Gaza with UAE Support
In a significant development, a center for prosthetic limbs has been established at a UAE-funded field hospital in Gaza. This center aims to provide high-grade, custom-made prosthetics and rehabilitation services to patients in need. The initiative is part of the UAE’s Operation Gallant Knight 3, which was launched under the directives of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to extend assistance and support to the Palestinian people.
The center began its operations by taking measurements from 36 patients who require prosthetic limbs on its opening day. It is anticipated that the number of individuals benefiting from the center will surpass 100 in the coming days. Additionally, other departments within the field hospital have already treated 5,423 patients, highlighting the significant impact of this humanitarian effort.
As part of Operation Gallant Knight 3, a humanitarian convoy from the UAE entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing, delivering over 240 tonnes of aid supplies. The convoy, consisting of 11 trucks, provided essential items such as winter clothing, tents, household necessities, food, and medical supplies to those in need. This delivery is just one of many efforts made by the UAE to support the Palestinian population.
Emirati officials have reported that more than 15,809 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Palestinians through Gallant Knight 3. This aid was transported using two cargo ships, 165 flights, and 476 trucks, showcasing the extensive reach and commitment of the UAE in providing assistance to those affected by conflict and hardship.
In addition to the provision of aid supplies, the UAE has also taken steps to address essential needs in Gaza. Six desalination plants have been set up with a daily production capacity of 1.2 million gallons of water, offering a sustainable solution to water scarcity in the region. Furthermore, plans are underway to deliver five automatic bakery machines from the Egyptian city of Arish to Gaza, ensuring access to fresh bread for the local population.
The establishment of the prosthetic limb center and the ongoing efforts of Operation Gallant Knight 3 underscore the UAE’s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting humanitarian causes.
