Love at First Kiss: The Unconventional Path to True Love!

Date:

Love at First Kiss is a 2023 film on Netflix that follows the story of Javier, the owner of a struggling publishing business, who possesses a unique ability. After his first kiss at the age of 16, he discovered that he could envision how his relationship with the person would develop in the future. This skill has helped him as an adult, allowing him to flirt with women and then dump them without any serious problems.

However, when he kisses his friend Luca after a drunken night out, he envisions a future with her that involves getting married and having a big family. He must now figure out how to win over the girl of his dreams without hurting their friendship.

The film’s narrative framework asks whether love can exist without problems and doubts and discusses the benefits and drawbacks of having a crystal ball. Ultimately, it concludes that ambiguity is preferable.

Alvaro Cervantes plays the role of Javier, but his character lacks depth as his only problems are with women and getting his works published. The two female leads, played by Silvia Alonso and Susana Abaitua, are a delight to see on screen. Alonso’s character, Lucía, is underutilized, while Abaitua’s portrayal of Ariana is the highlight of the picture.

Love at First Kiss begins with an intriguing notion and develops in a natural way. The supernatural is not the only driving force in the story, which instead emphasizes the human element. However, the script is confusing, and the ending is too obvious. Even before the first act is complete, it’s clear that the story’s supposed main characters are going to fall in love.

The film portrays relationships as shallow and the scenarios as confusing because of this. Roberto and Lucia go on a date, she moves in with Javi, and then she returns to Roberto. The situation isn’t completely impossible, but there isn’t the emotional fallout and pain that would normally come with it.

It’s understandable to be skeptical of Javi’s abilities, but this response does nothing but raise the question of whether or not expectations can ever match reality. The film means well by presenting these points, but its approach to and validation of those arguments isn’t convincing or relevant.

In conclusion, Love at First Kiss is an interesting film that explores the idea of knowing the future of a relationship. While it has its flaws, it’s worth a watch for its natural development and strong supporting ensemble.
