Jeddah Port’s Islamic Container Volume Soars by 25% in April: Mawani

Date:

Jeddah Islamic Port experienced a significant increase in container throughput during April, with a rise of 25.07% compared to the same period in 2022, according to the General Authority for Ports, also known as Mawani. The port handled 465,438 containers in April 2023, up from 372,064 the previous year. This growth was achieved as Mawani continued to improve its infrastructure across Saudi ports, ensuring supply chain reliability and supporting import, export and maritime trade operations. The progress aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting three continents in support of Saudi Vision 2030. The port also recorded a 21.83% increase in transshipments and a 19.33% rise in cargo handled compared to the same period last year. The port’s development plans are expected to further improve operational processes and boost its capacity, contributing to the Kingdom’s advancement in the Logistics Performance Index issued by the World Bank.
