Hezbollah attacks Golan Heights military sites

Date:

The ongoing hostilities between Iran-backed Hezbollah and the Israeli army have entered their ninth month, resulting in more casualties and the destruction of homes and properties in Lebanon’s border area. The recent escalation saw Hezbollah launching around 40 rockets from Lebanese territory towards Israeli military sites in the occupied Golan Heights for a second successive day.

Hezbollah stated that its operation was in retaliation for Israeli attacks on southern villages, particularly Aitaroun and Markaba. The operation targeted Israeli artillery positions in Zaoura in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights using Katyusha rockets. Israeli army radio reported the detection of missile launches on the Golan Heights and drones in Upper Galilee, with alarm sirens sounding in the area of Majdal Shams.

The conflict seems to be escalating as Hezbollah announced targeting the Ramtha site in the hills of occupied Kfar Shuba in Lebanon with missiles. The recent attacks by Hezbollah included an aerial assault with a drone on an artillery position in Odem in the Golan Heights, hitting Israeli officers and soldiers accurately. Other targets included Samaqa in the hills of Kfar Shuba, Ruwaisat Al-Alam site, Baraka Risha site, Sahel battalion headquarters, and various other locations.

Israeli attacks resumed on border towns under Hezbollah’s control, resulting in casualties. A cafe in Aytaroun was hit by a drone, causing fatalities. Israeli drones also targeted Hula, Taybeh, Naqoura, Al-Jabayn, and Khiam with artillery shelling. The death of a paramedic, Ahmed Ali Youssef, was reported due to an Israeli drone targeting Khiam.

Israeli military aircraft continue to violate Lebanese airspace, with flights recorded over Beirut and other regions at different altitudes. Mohammad Raad, head of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc, expressed doubts about Israel achieving its objectives. He emphasized the need for strength to protect the country and its people from threats posed by the real enemy.

Raad highlighted Hezbollah’s strength and resilience in destabilizing Israel’s military bases and leadership headquarters. He criticized Israel’s attempts to establish a security belt within Lebanon due to its inability to protect settlers within occupied Palestine. Raad emphasized the importance of confronting the real enemy and building strength to anticipate and counter risks effectively.

The ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and the Israeli army continues to escalate, resulting in casualties and destruction on both sides. The situation remains volatile, with both parties engaging in retaliatory attacks. The international community must intervene to de-escalate tensions and prevent further loss of life and destruction in the region. Diplomatic efforts are crucial to finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict and ensuring stability in the border area between Lebanon and Israel.
