“Dammam Port now offers new shipping service”

Date:

The King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam is set to experience a reduction in traffic thanks to the introduction of a new shipping service by Mediterranean Shipping Co. The Upper Gulf Express shipping service connects Dammam with Abu Dhabi and Sharjah ports in the UAE, as well as the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr. This move aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics hub that connects three continents. The new service, which is set to launch at the end of May, consolidates the position of King Abdulaziz Port as the primary port for goods from all over the world. In January, the ports authority announced the launch of a new freight service operated by MSC, which allows Dammam to enjoy weekly sailings to eight maritime destinations spanning the Arabian Gulf, South Asia, and Southern Africa. The service features five vessels with an average carrying capacity exceeding 6,000 twenty-foot equivalent units.
