TRIPOLI: The UN mission in Libya called Thursday for an investigation into the deaths of former defense minister Al-Mahdi Al-Barghathi and six other people in the custody of rival authorities in the east.
The UN mission said it was “concerned” by the deaths, which came after “allegations of ill-treatment and torture” since their arrest in the main eastern city of Benghazi on October 7.
