One such measure is simplifying the application process for connecting renewable energy systems. By streamlining the procedures, EWA aims to encourage more individuals and businesses to adopt renewable energy solutions. Accreditation of Consultants and Contractors for Renewable Energy Distribution

The authority has adopted eligibility criteria for the enrollment of these professionals, with 54 contractors and 93 consultants currently accredited in Bahrain. By incorporating renewable energy applications into this system, EWA aims to further simplify and expedite the process. This digital transformation enhances efficiency, reduces paperwork, and enables faster decision-making, ultimately accelerating the adoption of renewable energy solutions.
Successful Commissioning and Connection of Renewable Energy Projects
Since the implementation of these initiatives, a total of 303 applications have been submitted for the installation of renewable energy systems in Bahrain’s residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Out of these applications, more than 180 have been successfully commissioned and connected to EWA’s electricity distribution network. The total connected capacity of these projects exceeds 38 megawatts, marking a significant step towards achieving Bahrain’s renewable energy targets. Looking ahead, EWA expects an additional 150 megawatts to be installed in its electricity distribution network by 2026.
