“50 Daesh members and 168 relatives return from Syria to Iraq”

Date:

On Saturday, an Iraqi official announced that 50 Daesh terrorists and 168 Iraqi members of terrorist families were repatriated from Syria to Iraq. The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) handed over the terrorists to Iraqi authorities, who will investigate and bring them to justice. The terrorists were detained in Hasakah, northeast Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Additionally, 168 relatives of Daesh-group members were repatriated from Syria’s Al-Hol camp to be relocated to Al-Jadaa camp south of Mosul, where they will receive psychiatric treatment. The repatriation of relatives of fighters who joined the ultra-radical group that controlled one-third of Iraq between 2014 and 2017 has sparked opposition, and plans to close Al-Jadaa have been met with challenges.
