The UAE national jiu-jitsu team, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, has won 20 medals at the Thailand Open Grand Prix 2023 in Bangkok, emerging as overall champions. The team won nine gold, seven silver and four bronze medals across the two-day competition. Star athletes Faisal Al-Ketbi and Shamma Al-Kalbani secured gold medals in their respective divisions, with Saeed Al-Kubaisi and Abdullah Al-Kubaisi winning silver medals and Hazaa Farhan taking home a bronze medal. The team’s success is attributed to the support of the UAEJJF and the country’s wise leadership. The team is now preparing for the World Championships in Mongolia and the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

ISTANBUL: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday he was breaking off contact with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu due to Israel’s actions in Gaza.
“Netanyahu is no longer someone we can talk to. We have written him off,” Turkish media quoted Erdogan as saying.
Erdogan’s remarks came a week after Israel said it was “re-evaluating” its relations with Ankara because of Turkiye’s increasingly heated rhetoric about the Israel-Hamas war.
