Shell to operate gas stations in Saudi Arabia.

RIYADH: Riyadh is set to have its first Shell-branded fuel station later this year after the British energy firm signed an agreement with Asyad Holding Group, as part of the Saudi Energy Ministry’s efforts to bring international companies into the Kingdom. The agreement will pave the way for Shell International to open its fuel stations in the fourth quarter of this year, the ministry said in a press release.

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s World Defense Show is set to get bigger in its second edition with a substantial increase in the number of participating countries, according to a top executive. The General Authority for Military Industries recently announced that the second edition of WDS will be held in Riyadh from Feb. 4-8, 2024. Speaking at the Paris Air Show, WDS CEO Andrew Pearcey revealed that Bahrain, Oman, Denmark and Turkiye had joined the event, adding to its growing popularity.

Saudi sports support Kingdom’s team at Special Olympics Berlin.

On Saturday night, top figures from Saudi sports attended the launch of the Berlin 2023 Special Olympics in a show of support for the Kingdom’s 130-strong delegation. Saudi Arabia’s largest Special Olympics contingent since the 1995 Games in New Haven, Connecticut, is made up of 85 male and female athletes who will take part in 15 sports. Present at the opening ceremony in the German capital was Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi minister of sports and president of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, who attended on behalf of King Salman.

RIYADH: Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi minister of sports and president of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, attended the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin on Saturday — on behalf of KIng Salman — at the city’s Olympic Stadium. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier officially inaugurated the event, which began with a procession of the participating countries, including Saudi Arabia, followed by a speech delivered by Dr. Timothy Shriver, chairman of the Special Olympics International Board of Directors.

Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Denis Manturov — also Russia’s industry and trade minister — noted the special nature of Russian-Emirati relations, which includes strong ties of friendship and a rich history of cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect and trust.
