Saudi sports support Kingdom’s team at Special Olympics Berlin.

On Saturday night, top figures from Saudi sports attended the launch of the Berlin 2023 Special Olympics in a show of support for the Kingdom’s 130-strong delegation. Saudi Arabia’s largest Special Olympics contingent since the 1995 Games in New Haven, Connecticut, is made up of 85 male and female athletes who will take part in 15 sports. Present at the opening ceremony in the German capital was Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi minister of sports and president of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, who attended on behalf of King Salman.

RIYADH: Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi minister of sports and president of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, attended the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin on Saturday — on behalf of KIng Salman — at the city’s Olympic Stadium. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier officially inaugurated the event, which began with a procession of the participating countries, including Saudi Arabia, followed by a speech delivered by Dr. Timothy Shriver, chairman of the Special Olympics International Board of Directors.

RIYADH: Dr. Mubarak Al-Mutawa, Move Center for Sports Medicine’s executive director, has become the first Saudi to join the board of directors at the European College of Sports and Exercise Physicians. Al-Mutawa, in a media statement issued on Wednesday, said: “I am honored to have become a member of the board of directors of ECOSEP, which is a leading association at the European and international levels. “I am proud to represent my country, and to contribute in the advancement of the sports medicine sector.”

IMF predicts 3.8% growth for Kuwait’s non-oil sector in 2023

RIYADH: Kuwait’s non-oil growth is projected to increase to about 3.8 percent in 2023 on account of a robust expatriate community, the International Monetary Fund has forecast.    While overall growth is anticipated to drop to 0.1 percent this year, the non-oil economy will be strengthened on the back of the financial stimulus and partial recovery in the employment of expatriates, according to the IMF’s latest analysis of Kuwait.

Positive Non-Oil Outlook in UAE Despite Slight PMI Dip in May

RIYADH: The UAE’s non-oil private sector growth outlook remained positive in May, even as the seasonally adjusted S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index fell to 55.5 compared to 56.6 in April.   The S&P Global report noted that improved operating conditions drove business confidence to its strongest levels since October 2021.   According to the index, PMI readings above 50 show non-oil private sector growth, while those below 50 signal contraction.
