The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Condemns Israeli Forces’ Actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the actions of Israeli forces at Al-Aqsa Mosque, where thousands of worshippers were prevented from entering on Friday. The OIC denounced the “blatant attack on worshippers in Al-Aqsa Mosque, by firing poison-gas bombs and tear gas at them inside its courtyards, which led to the injury and arrest of hundreds of them, in violation of all international norms, laws, and human values.”

Israeli forces reportedly prevented thousands of people from the West Bank from entering Jerusalem to pray at the mosque on the last Friday of Ramadan. Soldiers imposed restrictions on worshippers, checked identities, and turned away elderly individuals who did not have the required permits. This led to confrontations between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians, resulting in arrests and injuries.

The OIC called on the international community to urge Israel to halt its repeated violations of freedom of worship and the sanctity of holy places in occupied Jerusalem. The organization stressed the importance of preserving the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and called for the full implementation of UN resolutions to end Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

Israeli police deployed 3,600 officers in East Jerusalem on Friday in anticipation of tens of thousands of worshippers traveling to Al-Aqsa Mosque for prayers. Despite this heavy security presence, clashes still occurred, with tear gas being fired into crowds of worshippers and several arrests made.

The OIC’s condemnation of Israeli actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque highlights the ongoing tensions in the region and the need for international intervention to protect the rights of worshippers and preserve the sanctity of holy sites. The organization’s call for the implementation of UN resolutions underscores the importance of upholding international law and ensuring the well-being of all individuals in the region.

The situation at Al-Aqsa Mosque serves as a reminder of the complex political and religious dynamics at play in Jerusalem and the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The OIC’s strong stance against Israeli actions reflects a commitment to defending the rights of Muslims and promoting peace and stability in the region.

As tensions continue to escalate in Jerusalem, it is crucial for the international community to take decisive action to prevent further violence and protect the rights of all individuals in the region. The OIC’s condemnation of Israeli forces’ actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque is a clear signal that violations of freedom of worship and human rights will not be tolerated, and that steps must be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals in the region.
