Klopp gets 2-match ban for doubting referee’s integrity.

Date:

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been given a two-match ban and a fine of £75,000 ($93,000) for his comments about Premier League referee Paul Tierney. Klopp’s poor disciplinary record and previous warnings were taken into account when deciding on the punishment. He admitted to improper conduct for questioning the integrity of the referee and bringing the game into disrepute. Klopp will not be allowed in the technical area for Liverpool’s next game against Aston Villa, but the second match of his punishment has been suspended until the end of next season. The disciplinary commission noted that Klopp had appeared at hearings on three occasions in the past five years and that his comments were damaging due to the intense media interest they generated.
