Israel widens attacks in southern Lebanon, 3 killed by drones

Date:

The recent escalation of violence between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon has resulted in the tragic deaths of three individuals, including two civilians. The Israeli army has intensified its attacks on Hezbollah and its allies, leading to devastating consequences for innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.

The first strike occurred near a UNIFIL site in Naqoura, claiming the life of a Hezbollah member identified as Mohammed Baydoun. A second drone attack targeted a motorcycle in Aita Al-Shaab, resulting in the death of civilian Rafik Hassan Kassem and severe injuries to another man, Hussein Saleh, who later succumbed to his wounds. Saleh, a mechanic with no political affiliations, was known for his humanitarian efforts to feed domestic animals in border villages left behind by fleeing residents.

The Israeli drones also targeted strategic locations such as a transmission tower for Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV Channel in Jabal Al-Blat. As hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel continue to escalate, Khiam village has been subjected to heavy Israeli raids, with military drones striking multiple targets in the region.

Israeli shelling has extended to various villages in southern Lebanon, causing widespread damage to property, infrastructure, and homes. The villages of Chihine, Majdal Zoun, Kfarhamam in Wadi Hamoul, Zebqine, and Naqoura have all been impacted by the ongoing conflict. Additionally, Hezbollah reported the deaths of two individuals in Israeli raids on Aitaroun, further escalating tensions in the region.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee confirmed the military’s strikes on Hezbollah targets in multiple regions of southern Lebanon. Warplanes targeted infrastructure and military buildings in Khiam and Aita Al-Shaab, with additional bombings in Khiam, Houla, Markaba, and Kfarkila. Sirens have been sounding in Israeli settlements near the Lebanese border, signaling the proximity of the conflict to civilian populations.

Hezbollah retaliated with missile attacks on Israeli sites, targeting technical systems and military installations. MP Mohammed Raad, head of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, issued a stern warning to Israel, stating that they are prepared for any escalation of hostilities. The use of kamikaze drones by Hezbollah has added a new dimension to the conflict, with promises of further operations to surprise and humiliate the enemy.

The situation in southern Lebanon remains volatile as both sides continue to engage in military actions with devastating consequences for civilians. The international community must intervene to de-escalate tensions and prevent further loss of life in this conflict. The cycle of violence must be broken to pave the way for peace and stability in the region.
