Global Network to Sue Wagner as ‘Terrorist’ Group

Date:

A former mercenary of the Wagner private military company, Andrei Medvedev, who escaped to Norway in January, may become a key witness in a series of civil lawsuits against the company. Medvedev claims that his life was in danger after a soldier under his command attempted to flee the Ukraine war and was murdered by Wagner. He has said that he wants to testify against Wagner proprietor Yevgeny Prigozhin, but requires asylum in Norway. A flagship class-action lawsuit is now ready to go to court in the UK, filed by law firm McCue Jury and Partners. The firm aims to prove that Wagner is a terrorist organisation and committed acts of terrorism against the Ukrainian people. The case seeks £5bn ($6.1bn) in compensation for victims, but could potentially involve all 180,000 Ukrainian expatriates residing in the UK. The case is part of a global alliance of law firms called the Ukraine Justice Alliance, which is backed by an evidence-gathering machine of investigative journalists and retired spies.
