Born on December 4, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida, Rossington co-founded Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1964 with Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins, and Bob Burns. The band rose to fame in the 1970s with hits like “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Free Bird,” and “Gimme Three Steps.”
