Egyptian Red Crescent delivers 27 tons of aid to Sudan

The Egyptian Red Crescent, in partnership with the EU and the UN Development Programme, has commenced the transportation of 27 tons of relief supplies to Sudan. The announcement was made at a press conference held by the Red Crescent, Egypt’s minister of social solidarity, Nivine El-Kabbag, the head of the EU delegation to Egypt, Christian Berger, and the UNDP resident representative in Egypt, Alessandro Fracassetti. El-Kabbag praised the international community for its confidence in the Egyptian Red Crescent and explained that her ministry works through 26 relief centers and tens of thousands of volunteers. Berger stated that the EU has provided €200,000 ($216,000) to assist people coming from Sudan to Egypt. Fracassetti reiterated the commitment to providing basic healthcare supplies to Sudanese refugees and strengthening social services for Egyptian communities hosting them. Since April, around 110,000 Sudanese have entered Egypt due to fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
