DeChambeau Takes Lead at PGA Championship for LIV Golf

Date:

Bryson DeChambeau has given a boost to LIV Golf by taking the lead in the opening round of the PGA Championship with a 4-under par 66. Despite hitting a competitor with an errant shot, DeChambeau managed to make six birdies against two bogeys at Oak Hill. The 29-year-old American is among the PGA Tour players who have moved to Saudi-backed LIV Golf, which offers $25 million purses and 54-hole events. The PGA Tour has banned LIV players, but DeChambeau’s performance has shown that LIV talent can compete for major titles. World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler and Canada’s Corey Conners shared second place on 67.
