GENEVA: More than 100 UN employees have been killed since the Israel-Hamas war began in Gaza, the UN Palestinian refugee agency known as UNRWA said on Friday, making it the deadliest conflict ever for the UN in such a short period.
Some were killed queuing for bread; others died along with their families in their homes, UNRWA said, as Israel’s devastating aerial and ground war against Hamas in densely populated Gaza continued in response to the Oct. 7 cross-border assault on Israeli communities by the group.
KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza Strip: The Health Ministry in Hamas-run Gaza says the Palestinian death toll in the war has surpassed 11,000 people.The ministry said Friday that 11,078 people had been killed since hostilities began Oct. 7 when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel.More than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel, primarily in the initial Hamas attack, and 41 Israeli soldiers have been killed in Gaza since the ground offensive began.
