GAZA STRIP/RAMALLAH: Swerving to avoid a crater left in the road by a strike, a donkey trots along the debris-strewn streets of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, then slows to navigate a narrow passageway cleared through the rubble of destroyed apartment blocks.
With a dearth of fuel caused by Israel’s blockade of Gaza since the start of its war against Hamas, donkey carts have become an essential mode of transport for people and goods in the bombarded Palestinian territory.
CAIRO: Egypt has congratulated the Kingdom on Riyadh’s successful bid to host World Expo 2030.
“Saudi Arabia’s victory in organizing this important international event in the first round of voting reflects the amount of appreciation for the offer made by the Kingdom and confidence in its ability to organize the event,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.
It also wished the “brotherly people of Saudi Arabia” continued success and progress.
DUBAI: Kuwait’s ruling Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah was admitted to hospital on Wednesday due to an emergency health problem and his condition is stable, the state news agency KUNA reported.
“His highness was admitted to hospital this morning due to an emergency health problem that has prompted His Highness to receive the necessary treatment and to seek medical check. He is in stable condition,” said KUNA, citing the Kuwaiti royal court.
