12 Pro-Regime Fighters Killed in Israeli Strike Near Syria’s Aleppo

Date:

The recent Israeli strike on a factory near Aleppo in northern Syria has resulted in the death of at least 12 pro-regime fighters, according to reports from an NGO. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the strike targeted a position in the town of Hayyan, setting off strong explosions in the factory and causing significant casualties.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack, stating that the Israeli enemy launched an air strike from the southeast of Aleppo, resulting in the loss of lives and material damage. The Observatory reported that Hayyan is controlled by pro-Iranian groups, consisting of both Syrian and foreign fighters.

Israel has been conducting numerous strikes in Syria since the beginning of the civil war, primarily targeting army positions and Iran-backed fighters, including those from Hezbollah. While Israel rarely comments on specific strikes, it has made it clear that it will not allow Iran to expand its presence in Syria.

The frequency of strikes has escalated since the start of Israel’s conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7 with a significant attack by the Iran-backed Palestinian militant group. The ongoing violence in Syria has resulted in the deaths of over half a million people and the displacement of millions more since the conflict began in 2011.

The situation in Syria remains complex and volatile, with various factions vying for control and influence in the war-torn country. The involvement of foreign powers, including Israel and Iran, has further complicated the conflict and led to increased tensions in the region.

The recent Israeli strike near Aleppo serves as a reminder of the ongoing violence and instability in Syria, despite efforts to reach a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The loss of life and destruction caused by such attacks highlight the human cost of war and the urgent need for a lasting ceasefire and political solution to end the suffering of the Syrian people.

As the international community continues to monitor developments in Syria, efforts must be redoubled to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict and address the root causes of the violence. Only through dialogue, diplomacy, and a commitment to upholding human rights can lasting peace be achieved in Syria and the wider region.

The tragic events in Aleppo underscore the need for all parties involved to prioritize the protection of civilians and adhere to international humanitarian law. The cycle of violence and retribution must be broken to pave the way for a more stable and secure future for the people of Syria.
