Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has put an end to rumors linking him with top European clubs and is fully focused on his current team. The former footballer has had a successful start to his first senior coaching job, turning Leverkusen’s fortunes around and leading them to seventh place in the Bundesliga with two rounds remaining. Alonso, whose contract runs until 2024, has dismissed speculation that he will be taking over from Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid or at Tottenham. Instead, he is concentrating on Thursday’s Europa League semifinal match against Roma, where Leverkusen need to overturn a 1-0 deficit. Alonso is confident that if his team gives everything on the field, they can be proud after the game.
