West Bank Refugees Suffer as UNRWA Strike Persists

Date:

Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank are facing a potential health and environmental disaster this summer due to an ongoing strike by over 3,600 UN Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) workers. The strike, which began on 20 February, has led to piles of garbage accumulating in the camps. The lack of garbage collection, combined with the halting of healthcare services, could lead to disease outbreaks. The UNRWA claims that it does not have sufficient funds to meet the demands of its workers. The strike has also affected education provision for 50,000 students.
