US Media Ends ‘Dilbert’ After Creator’s Racist Remarks

Date:

“That’s why we have decided to no longer publish the Dilbert comic strip.”

The recent comments made by Scott Adams, creator of the popular comic strip Dilbert, have been met with widespread condemnation and outrage. Adams called Black people a “hate group” and advised white people to “get away” from them. This blatant racism has led to many newspapers in the United States deciding to no longer publish the comic strip.

The USA TODAY Network, The Plain Dealer, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and the San Antonio Express-News have all announced that they will no longer be publishing Dilbert in their newspapers. Christopher Kelly of NJ Advance Media wrote that when ideas cross into hate speech, a line must be drawn and that is why they have decided to no longer publish the comic strip.

Rev. & Prof. Cornell William Brooks tweeted that Adams should not merely be “cancelled” but his vile racism should be categorically defunded. Tom Nichols tweeted that if Scott Adams wants to end his career as a racist kook, okay.

Adams’s comments have been met with widespread criticism and it is clear that his views are not welcome in the media. His words have been seen as promoting segregation and racism and it is clear that the newspapers have taken a stance against this kind of hate speech. It is important that we continue to stand up against racism and bigotry and make sure that it is not tolerated in any form.
