Ukraine Releases Banksy Stamp for War Anniversary

Date:

Ukraine has commemorated the anniversary of Russia’s invasion with a unique stamp featuring a Banksy mural. The mural depicts a young boy in a judo bout, overcoming an adult man. The artwork was confirmed by the British artist in November, and has been interpreted as a symbol of Ukraine’s struggle against the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Ihor Smilianskyi, head of the Ukrainian Postal Service, said the stamp was chosen to represent the feelings of every Ukrainian towards their enemy. He added that the stamp was postmarked for the first time at a ceremony.

Local resident Nataliia Hrebeniuk praised the stamp’s symbolism, saying it represented a small Ukraine defeating a large Russia. Putin has claimed he is fighting the West for Russia’s survival, while Kyiv insists there can be no peace until Russia withdraws from its territory.

The stamp has been well-received by Ukrainians, who see it as a powerful symbol of their fight against Russia. It is hoped that the stamp will serve as a reminder of Ukraine’s strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
