Tom Sizemore’s Death: What Happened to the ‘Saving Private Ryan’ Star?

Date:

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of actor Tom Sizemore, who passed away at the age of 61. Sizemore was known for his roles in popular films such as Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbor, and True Romance. His manager, Charles Lago, released a statement on March 3, 2023, announcing his death. Sizemore had been admitted to the hospital on February 18 with a stroke-related brain aneurysm and remained in the intensive care unit for the rest of the week. Following his injury and subsequent collapse, he fell into a coma.

Although the exact circumstances surrounding Sizemore’s passing are unknown, it is believed that complications stemming from the brain aneurysm he suffered on February 18 may have played a role. Lago gave his initial comment about Sizemore’s health to People on February 27, stating that “the doctors have told the family there is no chance for recovery and they advise making an end-of-life decision. The family is currently making final arrangements, and an update will be provided on Wednesday.”

In his statement announcing Sizemore’s passing, Lago said, “It is with great sadness and sorrow I have to announce that actor Thomas Edward Sizemore (“Tom Sizemore”) aged 61 passed away peacefully in his sleep today at St Joseph’s Hospital Burbank. His Brother Paul and twin boys Jayden and Jagger (17) were at his side.”

Sizemore was a talented actor who gave several memorable performances in the 90s. However, he was also known for his struggles with addiction. In a 2010 interview with Larry King of CNN, Sizemore discussed his drug usage and admitted to struggling with addiction to cocaine, heroin, and meth. He stated that it was during his time in Hollywood that he was first exposed to substances like cocaine.

Sizemore also revealed that he started using drugs after seeing “an actor whose name I can’t tell you” do it. He also stated in the same interview that his ex-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss was the one who first introduced him to meth. Sizemore was arrested for “driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance” in 2019 and 2020.

Fans and friends of Sizemore have been paying tribute to him on social media. One fan posted a photo of Sizemore delivering one of his well-known lines, “Well ya know, for me, the action is the juice.” The fan wrote: “Rest in peace, Tom Sizemore. Hope there’s still action wherever you are now.”

Another fan commented: “Great character, great movie.” Actor Robert Davi also paid tribute to Sizemore on Twitter, saying: “Am saddened to hear of Tom Sizemore’s end of life – his family has my prayers – Tom and I were friends I knew of his suffering & his struggle with Addiction – he was a terrific talent – Many families suffer from the heartbreak and tragedy of this disease and we do not do enough!!”

Sizemore’s passing is a reminder of the devastating impact addiction can have on individuals and their loved ones. It is important to seek help if you or someone you know is struggling with addiction.
