Then in September 2009, a questionnaire was submitted to Ronaldo to question him on the rape case filed against him in Los Angeles. His brother-in-law and his cousin were also mailed the questionnaire because they were also present. German publication noted that several versions of the answers were submitted to the questionnaire but the one submitted in September 2009 was crucial because that Ronaldo had admitted that Mayorga, “said no and stop several times.”

In 2010, the case had apparently settled after Ronaldo paid the model $375,000 with a non-disclosure agreement to drop all charges against him.

The case was closed also due to difficulty in investigations. According to the reports, Mayorga suffered trauma but the Me Too movement in 2018 encouraged her to reopen the case and reveal her identity. She also claimed that she was mentally incapacitated while signing the NDA.

Back in 2018, the lawyers of Ronaldo dismissed the allegations and called it a piece of “journalistic fiction”. The lawyers argued that the documents obtained were unsigned and that the parties involved were unidentified.

The publication, however, showed the signatures of Ronaldo on the document. The Los Angeles police opened the case but Cristiano Ronaldo denied the rape allegations and said that “rape goes against everything that I am and believe in.”
