An EgyptAir flight heading to the Russian capital Moscow returned to Cairo as we speak after discovering a “threat message.” Flight MS729 returned to the Cairo airport safely 22 minutes after its takeoff. The message was written and located on one of many plane’s seats, EgyptAir mentioned in an announcement.

The airline didn’t present additional particulars. A subsequent safety inspection discovered no menace to the aircraft, the Associated Press reported

Flights between Russia and Egypt have a troubled historical past. Russia suspended flight providers to Egypt in 2015 following an Islamic State assault that introduced down a Russian aircraft. Flights between Cairo and Moscow resumed in 2018, and flights between Russia and Egypt’s Red Sea resort areas began up once more this previous summer time.
