“April imports to Saudi Arabia decrease by 16.1% to $15.4bn”

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports decreased 16.1 percent to SR57.9 billion ($15.4 billion) in April 2023 compared to SR69 billion in March 2023, according to the latest data released by the General Authority for Statistics.  However, the Kingdom’s merchandise imports increased by 1 percent in April 2023 compared to SR57.3 million in April 2022. According to the report, overall merchandise exports decreased 25.2 percent to SR103 billion in April 2023 compared to SR137.7 billion in the same month last year.

RIYADH: A vast majority CEOs in Saudi Arabia are confident about the Kingdom’s economic growth over the next three years despite the prevalent inflationary pressures and geopolitical tensions, revealed a global survey by KPMG.  The global professional services network, in its latest CEO Outlook report, revealed that 74 percent of Saudi chief executives are optimistic about the economic growth of the Kingdom over the next three years, compared to just 60 percent who are confident about global progress.

May sees 19% increase in container volume at Saudi ports

RIYADH: The number of containers handled at Saudi ports surged 18.8 percent during May. The volume of standard containers handled across the Kingdom reached 709,944 as compared to 597,617 in the same month in the previous year, the Saudi Ports Authority said in a statement on Tuesday. The authority said outbound containers rose by more than 28 percent to 224,720 in May, from 175,320 in the prior-year period. The number of inbound containers also increased 36 percent to 236,360, compared to 173,820 containers during the same month in the previous year.

RIYADH: The latest player in the global aviation industry, Riyadh Air, made an appearance with its remarkable livery at the King Khaled International Airport in the Saudi capital on Monday. A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner painted aircraft flew at low altitude over several notable landmarks in the Riyadh skyline, including King Abdullah Financial District, Boulevard City, and some of the iconic main towers, thrilling residents with a glimpse of the Public Investment Fund-owned airline ahead of its public debut at the 54th Paris Air Show on June 19.
