BEIJING: Messi mania gripped Beijing ahead of a sellout friendly on Thursday evening between world champions Argentina and Australia in the Chinese capital. All eyes were on Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest footballer of all time and who lifted the World Cup for Argentina in December. Hundreds of Chinese fans waving Argentinian flags and wearing Messi jerseys have massed outside the team’s luxury hotel ever since their idol touched down on Saturday.

RIYADH: Bateel International has launched a new bakery which will feature food freshly prepared each day on the premises. The inaugural Bateel Bakery outlet has opened in Waitrose Khalifa City Community Centre, Abu Dhabi, with the first Dubai outlet set to launch this summer in DIFC’s Index Tower. According to a press release, every item on the menu – from single-origin coffees to organic breads, pastries, salads and sandwiches – is freshly prepared each day by the in-house team of bakers, chefs and baristas.

RIYADH: As part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect the environment and promote sustainable living, NEOM has pledged to allocate 95 percent of its total area for preservation. It will also develop a facility in Al-Asilah to preserve the Arabian oryx, the Arabian sand gazelle, the mountain gazelle, and the ibex. The reserve will be home to one of the biggest wildlife restoration programs in the world and will allow visitors to learn about NEOM’s programs for the development and rehabilitation of vegetation and wildlife.

Etihad Rail collaborates with Arsenale to introduce high-end train service in UAE.

RIYADH: Travelers will have access to a luxury train service in the UAE after national railway network operator Etihad Rail partnered with Italian hospitality firm Arsenale Group in a move to boost tourism and showcase the country’s heritage and scenic attractions.  The firms signed a memorandum of understanding during the two-day Middle East Rail Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi to roll out the 15-carriage transit option that will travel throughout the UAE toward the border with Oman.
