Inter Players Join Italy for Nations League Duty

ROME: Inter Milan's contingent of players arrived for Italy duty on Monday ahead of their Nations League semi-final against Spain two days after their Champions League final defeat. Roberto Mancini's side take on Spain in Enschede, the Netherlands on Thursday. The five Inter players called up -- Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian -- arrived at the Italian team's national training centre at Coverciano, near Florence, after losing the Champions League final to Manchester City in Istanbul.

Veteran striker Ibrahimovic revealed his decision to quit the game during an on-pitch ceremony following AC Milan’s 3-1 win over Verona. “It’s the moment to say goodbye to football, not just to you,” said Ibrahimovic on the San Siro pitch. “There are too many emotions for me right now. Forza Milan and goodbye.”

Rybakina advances to 3rd round at French Open, Keys defeated

PARIS: Elena Rybakina’s comfort on clay improved as she eased into the third round at the French Open by beating another Czech teenager on Thursday. The Wimbledon champion, the No. 4 seed at Roland Garros, beat 18-year-old Linda Noskova 6-3, 6-3 on Court Suzanne Lenglen. “I cannot say that here it’s easy for me. It’s still every match getting better and better,” Rybakina said on court. “It was a bit slippery for me today, I don’t know why.”

Saudi company invests in Italian chemical manufacturer

RIYADH: Saudi Arabian Industrial Investments Co., also known as Dussur, has announced the acquisition of a stake in Italmatch Chemical, a global specialty chemical additive manufacturer based in Italy, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The announcement was made at a ceremony held in Riyadh on Monday. It was attended by Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih, and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef.

BARCELONA, Spain: Carlo Ancelotti says he will finish his contract with Real Madrid despite their defeat in the Champions League semifinals and with rumors swirling that Brazil would love the Italian to become its next coach. “I have a contract until June 2024 and the club has already guaranteed I will see out my contract. Everyone knows that’s exactly what I want to do,” Ancelotti said on Saturday in his first news conference since he spoke immediately after Manchester City routed his Madrid 4-0 this week to reach the final 5-1 on aggregate.

Etihad Rail collaborates with Arsenale to introduce high-end train service in UAE.

RIYADH: Travelers will have access to a luxury train service in the UAE after national railway network operator Etihad Rail partnered with Italian hospitality firm Arsenale Group in a move to boost tourism and showcase the country’s heritage and scenic attractions.  The firms signed a memorandum of understanding during the two-day Middle East Rail Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi to roll out the 15-carriage transit option that will travel throughout the UAE toward the border with Oman.
