Ittihad signs Portuguese winger Jota in ongoing summer spending spree

RIYADH: Saudi football team Al-Ittihad have confirmed the signing of Portuguese winger Jota from Celtic. The 24-year-old attacker joins French World Cup winners Karim Benzima and N’Golo Kante, who were both added to the team last month, in Jeddah as The Tigers’ bid to retain the Saudi Pro League title next season.  Jota, who completed a medical before signing on Monday, has agreed terms that will see him in yellow and black for the next three years. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Juventus signs US winger Weah on five-year contract

TURIN, Italy: US winger Tim Weah completed a transfer to Juventus on Saturday, fulfilling a dream his father once had of playing for the storied Italian club. The 23-year-old Weah, who is the son of former FIFA Player of the Year and current Liberian President George Weah, signed a five-year contract with Juventus on the day the transfer market opened in Italy.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Paris Air Show, Pascale Sourisse, president of Thales International, said the organization not only wants to bolster the Kingdom’s defense sector, it is also branching out into other areas such as security, civil aviation and higher education.

PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier has been summoned to stand trial in December as part of an investigation into racism allegations at his former club Nice, a prosecutor said Friday. Galtier and his son, John Valovic-Galtier, were placed in custody for questioning on Friday morning. After his son was released without charge, Galtier was referred to the public prosecutor’s office and will stand trial in Nice on Dec. 15 on charges of psychological harassment and discrimination, prosecutor Xavier Bonhomme posted on Twitter.

BILBAO, SPAIN: Cycling’s Tour de France, with its caravan of teams, media, publicity and security, was visible everywhere around Bilbao on Thursday, as champion Jonas Vingegaard prepared to start the defense of his title. The 22 teams received a loud reception on their parade in downtown Bilbao. TotalEnergies’ First Solar Power Plant in Saudi Arabia Fully Financed

RIYADH: Sustainable energy provision in Saudi Arabia is set to grow after French energy giant TotalEnergies achieved financial closure for its first solar power plant in the Kingdom.  According to a press statement, the 119 megawatts solar plant will be developed by a consortium of TotalEnergies, Japan’s Toyota Tsusho and Saudi Arabia’s Altaaqa Renewable Energy.  The group secured a power purchase agreement for the project with Riyadh-based Saudi Power Procurement Co. in an auction held between 2021 and 2022.
