N’Golo Kante Joins Karim Benzema at Ittihad in Jeddah

RIYADH: French superstar N’Golo Kante has completed his transfer to Saudi side Al-Ittihad, the club announce early on Wednesday, and joins fellow Frenchman Karim Benzema in Jeddah. The team made fun of rumors around the deal being scuttled by medical issues  in a video skit on Twitter, showing the midfielder failing his medical before breaking the good news to fans.

Mayar Sherif: Highest-Ranked Egyptian in Tennis History by Design

In a recent conversation with her psychologist, Egyptian tennis star Mayar Sherif was asked what was driving her the most. “She was asking me, ‘What is your motivation right now? Because motivation can move mountains’,” recalled Sherif in an interview with Arab News on Monday. “I told her, ‘I’m dying to pass Ismail’s career-high mark of 34,’ so that was definitely a goal I had in my mind.” Sherif was referring to Ismail El-Shafei, who, until Sunday, was the highest-ranked Egyptian in Open era history, having peaked at No.34 in the world back in 1975.

Boulter cemented her position as British No. 1 and will move to a career high inside the world’s top 80. “I’m definitely going to be sleeping with this trophy tonight,” said Boulter, who grew up in nearby Leicester.

LONDON: Trainer Andrew Balding is hoping Chaldean can notch up another win for Saudi-owned Juddmonte this season at Royal Ascot and continue the work started four decades ago by late founder Prince Khalid bin Abdullah. The Saudi businessman, whose son Prince Saud has taken up the Juddmonte reins, first tasted success at Ascot in 1979 when Abeer won the Queen Mary Stakes at the meeting.

Saudi team wins 5 medals in Nepal yoga contest

JEDDAH: In its first international competition, the Saudi national yoga team claimed five medals, including a gold medal, three silvers and one bronze medal at the 2nd Mt. Everest International Yoga championship. The contest was held from June 8 to June 10 in Katmandu, Nepal. Eight countries from South Asia including India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Maldives took part in the competition.
