TAG Heuer Porsche’s Antonio Felix da Costa finished third while just seven seconds split the first 17 cars at the flag.

“World Bank Offers Repayment Pause to Nations in Crisis”

PARIS: The head of the World Bank said Thursday that the lender planned to introduce a “pause” mechanism for debtor countries in the event of them being hit by a crisis. Ajay Banga told a summit on financing the fight against climate change that the multilateral lender would adopt a new approach that “significantly expands the World Bank’s toolkit.” The most important measure would be offering “a pause on debt repayments so countries can focus on what matters when a crisis hits and stop worrying about the bill that is going come,” he added.

Saudi Athlete Donates Rio 2016 Outfit to Olympic Museum

JEDDAH: Saudi Olympic athlete Kariman Abuljadayel has donated her Rio 2016 Olympic running attire to the International Olympic Committee to be a part of the Olympic Museum in Switzerland. In 2016, Abuljadayel was the first Saudi woman athlete in history to take part in the Olympic 100 meters sprint competition in Rio de Janeiro. She has now turned her attention to rowing.

Encouragement for US Businesses to Invest More in Iraq

LONDON: American businesses are being encouraged to increase investment in Iraq as the country looks to move on from decades of devastation. Speaking to journalists, including Arab News, on Tuesday following a trip to Iraq, the special representative for commercial and business affairs at the US State Department said he is “very excited” at the opportunities to be part of the rebuilding of the country.

Riyadh Air CEO announces direct flights from Saudi capital to major European cities

PARIS: In line with its goal to serve over 100 destinations by 2030, Riyadh Air will connect the Kingdom’s capital to major cities of Europe, its CEO said.   Speaking to Arab News on the sidelines of the Paris Air Show, Tony Douglas said the company intends to reveal something new every two months as the airline gears up for its 2025 launch. While Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and the highest populated country within the Arabian Peninsula, it is not globally well-connected as it needs to be.  

Saudi sports support Kingdom’s team at Special Olympics Berlin.

On Saturday night, top figures from Saudi sports attended the launch of the Berlin 2023 Special Olympics in a show of support for the Kingdom’s 130-strong delegation. Saudi Arabia’s largest Special Olympics contingent since the 1995 Games in New Haven, Connecticut, is made up of 85 male and female athletes who will take part in 15 sports. Present at the opening ceremony in the German capital was Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi minister of sports and president of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, who attended on behalf of King Salman.

Saudi Arabia’s Cybersecurity Gets Boost from New Cisco Data Center

RIYADH: Digital security in Saudi Arabia is set to be strengthened after global technology firm Cisco announced a new data center for the Kingdom to better protect users, infrastructure and investments. The facility will support the company’s cloud security services in Saudi Arabia, including its new Secure Service Edge solution, Cisco Secure Access. This product automates decisions about how users connect to the internet, Software as a Service products and private applications, a move which the firm claims helps increase productivity.
